Did you know that Lee County has it's own semi-pro football team? Well they do and they are looking mighty good this year. Their season debut under new head coach Ray Price is scheduled for August 28th. The Rebels will play five home games this season at the Pennington Middle School field. Price says the league in which the Rebels are participating in is a national league with more than 60 teams competing for the championship.

Would you like to be involved?

The team is still looking for players and sponsors. Each team is required to pay a $1300 entry fee and all games are officiated with NFL officials at a cost of $650 per game. Donations and contributions are also accepted and they are tax deductible since this is a non-profit organization. And all the money that is left over after expenses will be donated to the Lee County School System. "We are not here to make money. We simply want to play and win", says Coach Price. Tickets to the home games are $6.

"We want the community to get behind this team because they are a good bunch of players and can win and represent Lee County well", says Price.

Donations and contributions can be sent to PO Box 1198 Jonesville, VA 24263. For more information you can contact assistant coach William Cooper at (276) 346-4556. The coach invites anyone interested in playing for the Rebels ro attend one of their practices, either Wednesday or Sunday at 6pm. Insurance is available for all players and equipment will be given to each player. You don't have to reside in Lee County to be eligible to play, anyone from the surrounding areas are welcome.
