Did you know that Lee County has it's own semi-pro football team? Well it does and they are looking mighty good this year. Their season debut under new head coach Ray Price was August 28th. Tickets to the home games are $6.

The Rebels will play five home games this season at the Pennington Middle School field. Price says the league in which the Rebels are participating in is a national league with more than 60 teams competing for the championship. And there will be scouts coming to the games. "Here in Lee County alone we are expecting scouts from Texas and Florida...the Cincinnati Bengals and Tennessee Titans", says Price, "This is big-time football and there are athletes in this area that can play. We need some positions filled and someone is going to get a wonderful opportunity".

Would you like to be involved?

The team is still looking for players and sponsors. Donations and contributions are also accepted and they are tax deductible since this is a non-profit organization. And all the money that is left over after the teams expenses will be donated to the Lee County School System. "We are not here to make money. We simply want to play and win", says Coach Price. The cost of participating in the league is a financial burden with each team required to pay a $1300 entry fee and all games are officiated by NFL officials at a cost of $650 per game.

"We want the community to get behind this team because they are a good bunch of players and can win and represent Lee County well", says Price.

The coach invites anyone interested in playing for the Rebels to attend one of their practices, either Wednesday or Sunday at 6pm. Insurance is available for all players and equipment will be given to each player. You don't have to reside in Lee County to be eligible to play, anyone from the surrounding areas are welcome.
